🎨🔧 Creativity meets innovation in our Pre-K Owls class!
As we wrap up our inquiry unit on art, we’ve been exploring the question: What can we make? One of our Pre-K classes, the Owls, took a unique and exciting approach by incorporating simple machines into their art-making process! The class explored what simple machines are and how they help us in everyday life. Then, using recycled materials, they designed and built their own simple machines to create incredible works of art!
It’s amazing to see our young learners blending STEM and creativity, discovering new ways to express themselves while thinking like engineers. What a fantastic way to wrap up this unit!

Its Read Across America Week which means we get to celebrate one of our favorite activities, READING!
We LOVE literacy, and this week, we’re celebrating the magic of reading with exciting activities and fun spirit days! From cozying up with our favorite books to engaging in hands-on literacy fun, we’re inspiring a lifelong love of reading in our young learners, not just this week, but all year long.

We are thrilled to see our preschool students blossoming with incredible kindergarten readiness skills! From recognizing letters and numbers, perfecting fine motor skills for fun challenges like cutting, and even showing amazing problem-solving abilities, our preschoolers are truly shining.
Though these emerging skills are something to cheer about, we’re especially proud of their growing independence, cooperative play, and the way they communicate their thoughts and feelings. Our curriculum doesn't just put emphasis on academics, but also on the social/emotional growth and development needed to be successful life long learners.

Ms. Cortney is Assistant Teacher in our Giraffes Classroom (ages 3-4), and although she joined our team just a few months ago in November 2024, she has already made a tremendous impact. ❤️ Her incredible patience, unwavering kindness, and ability to balance love with clear expectations have not only won the hearts of her preschoolers but also earned the admiration of many of her coworkers.

At The Goddard School - Meridian (ID), Black History Month is a time to honor the rich history, strength, and achievements of Black Americans. But celebrating diverse stories is something we embrace all year long! These stories help children develop empathy, appreciation, and a true sense of belonging. 💙
Dr. Ann McClain Terrell, a member of our Educational Advisory Board, has curated a must-read list of books that highlight Black history and culture. From inspiring real-life figures to vibrant stories celebrating diversity, these books help children see themselves—and others—in powerful ways.

Last week our Pre-K artists had an absolute blast learning about Pablo Picasso! After exploring his unique style and vibrant use of shapes and colors, our creators got to work making their own asymmetrical masterpieces. Their Picasso-inspired faces were full of creativity, expression, and a whole lot of fun! 🖌️🎭

Yesterday, our team leveled up our health and safety skills in one of the most exciting ways possible—through a school-wide escape room challenge! Teams put our health and safety knowledge to the test, identifying staged risks in each classroom and working together to "break free" from each age group. The winning team was dubbed the "GOAT" of Health and Safety standards. 😃
But that was just the beginning of our day! We also:
✅ Discovered new strategies for managing all kinds of behaviors in the classroom.
✅ Gained valuable tools to foster inclusive learning environments across our school.
✅ Took time to craft, collaborate, and connect—because a strong team makes a strong school!
Of course, no great day is complete without delicious food, and our lunch from Great Harvest did not disappoint.
Here’s to taking what we’ve learned and making our classrooms even more engaging, supportive, and safe for our students.

They observed all the different ways lines can be made—straight, curved, zigzag, wavy—and then brought their observations to life on paper with their own unique creations! 🖍️✨

Yesterday, our team leveled up our health and safety skills in one of the most exciting ways possible—through a school-wide escape room challenge! Teams put our health and safety knowledge to the test, identifying staged risks in each classroom and working together to "break free" from each age group.
